Oswego Community School District 308 approved the hiring of a principal and assistant principal for Oswego East High School at Monday night’s board of education meeting at Oswego East High School.
Brett McPherson will be the new principal effective July 1. According to a release from the district, McPherson currently is the principal at Glen Crest Middle School in Glen Ellyn. McPherson was also served as principal at Belvidere Central Middle School, Genoa-Kingston High School, and Genoa-Kingston Middle School.
“Brett has a proven track record of driving student achievement, building strong school cultures, and leading with purpose,” said Deputy Superintendent Dr. Heather Kincaid in the release. “We know he is going to do great things for our students, staff, and families.”
McPherson replaces Kurt Laakso, assistant principal at Oswego East, who served as the administrator on duty in Laura Bankowski’s absence.
Liz Perez will be the new assistant principal in charge of Curriculum and Instruction at Oswego East effective July 1. Perez currently serves as the English department chair at Maine East High School. She also served as assistant principal at Round Lake Middle School.
“Liz Perez is a highly capable and forward-thinking instructional leader who brings a strong balance of classroom experience, administrative expertise, and a deep commitment to equity and student success,” said Dr. Kincaid in the release. “Her leadership is grounded in collaboration, high expectations, and a clear belief in the potential of all students and staff.”
