Oswego Man Charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm

Oswego Police released a statement on Wednesday afternoon after a suspect allegedly fired a gun in the 200 block of Northampton Drive in Oswego on Tuesday evening.

Police arrested 47-year-old Eric Bonnes of Oswego on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card.

At approximately 6:39 p.m. on Tuesday, police say they were dispatched to the 200 block of Northampton Drive in Oswego for a male that may have fired a gun while walking the street.

“Upon arrival,” says the release, “officers quickly located a man matching the male’s description holding a firearm in his hand.”

Police say they immediately took Bonnes into custody without incident, and he was transported to the Oswego Police Department for processing.

“Bonnes is alleged to have discharged a firearm into the air in a residential neighborhood while others were present in the area,” the police report stated.

Police say Bonnes was transported to the Kendall County Jail on Wednesday to await a pre-trial hearing.
