Village of Oswego to Consider Concept Plan for Jade Estates at April 22 Meeting
On Tuesday night, the Village of Oswego board will consider a proposal for Jade Estates, an 8-acre site that would be constructed at the southwest corner of Wolf’s Crossing and Douglas Road. The site would host 66 duplex units.
On April 10, Oswego’s Planning and Zoning Commission overwhelmingly denied recommending approval of Jade Estates in an 8-0 vote.
According to a draft of the Commission meeting minutes, Village Planner Jeff Lind told the Commission that “the proposed use is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan and surrounding neighborhoods as it would provide additional housing options in the Village. The minutes state that Village staff have “concerns over the lack of a second access point as well as the lack of appropriately sized landscape buffer yards.”
The Commission has several concerns including “the density of the project; parking issues; that the project should have a second point of access and public rather than private streets; and that the park site should be moved to another location, away from the detention pond and road.”
The consideration of the Jade Estates of Oswego will be under new business at Tuesday night’s meeting. Village of Oswego board meetings can be seen online at oswegoil.org.
