Oswego Planning and Zoning Commission denies zoning change for potential jade estates land parcel
The Village of Oswego Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously denied the rezoning of the southwest corner of Douglas Road and Wolf’s Crossing Road from agriculture to residential in a 9-0 vote on Thursday night.
The parcel of land is part of the proposal of Jade Estates. The 8-acre site would host 56 duplex units that are approximately 2,000 square feet with three to four bedrooms and a two-car garage.
The Commission provided comments after a short presentation from Ram Prashantha, principal and CEO of ProJades LLC.
“I think you’re trying to do way too much with this piece of property,” said PZC member Rick Kuhn. “I think this amounts to me what was once a farm that we’re trying to land 56 units on.”
“They look too close together, and so, if you gave more space to them,” said chair Charlie Pajer, “you reduce your density, which I think we all agree, lower density is better for this parcel.”
