Board of Trustees Approve Economic Development Incentive Award for $21,000 to Owner of Old Danellis Building

The Village of Oswego approved an Economic Development Incentive Award in the amount of $21,193 for UrbanEdge Commercial Ventures LLC at Monday night’s Village Board meeting. UrbanEdge owns the property at 228 E. Washington Street, which they purchased from the owners of Danelli’s restuarant last July.

The Village of Oswego approved an EDIA in the amount of $21,193 for 228 E. Washington Street.

UrbanEdge applied for funds to help design and install a 250-gallon grease interceptor along with completely replacing the parking lot.

The building’s tenant, Hell’s BBQ, was also approved for a $40,000 grant from the Village last month. However, the Village says that the two applications are independent of each other, and that “it is permitted under the program criteria so long as the applications identify separate eligible expenses.”

The Village says that there have been previous instances of the Village providing grants for different projects at the same property address.

The Economic Development Incentive Award, or EDIA, was established by the Village to provide financial assistance to new or expanding businesses within Oswego. The Village states that “the purpose of the incentive award program is to aid in property improvements which enhance Oswego’s downtown business district.”
